Biking is seen as an environmentally friendly form of transportation. We wanted to explore ways in which we can bring down the carbon footprint even further by gathering discarded tubes destined for the junkyard and using them as the durable material they are.
For this project, all of the materials were sourced second-hand. The frame of the chair was found in an alley, and the bike tubes came from the recycling pile in the basement of Kissing Crows.
Candela and I used leather tools borrowed from the ECU soft shop for the construction.
This process resulted in a chair that forms to your body as you sit, making it an excellent option to sit by a fire and relax after a long bike ride.
